Fruit Salad Stack fun with the kids during school holidays

May Ly

I love school holidays without the morning rush, pickup times and having to rush meal times to fit everything in. So this means we have more time to enjoy our food and get a little creative with the kdis. Fruit salads are great way to get a nice combination of all fruits & colours together, you can chop them up and use the fruit shell as a bowl (my 6 yo loves his pineapple bowl) or slicing the fruit horizontally and letting the kids make their own fruit salad stack.

Fresh Seasonal Fruit Salad Stack are alot of fun to make with the kids

You can use any fruit and slice it horizontally. Some nice options are:

  • pineapple
  • apples
  • pear
  • strawberries
  • persimmon
  • bananas
  • dragonfruit
  • cumquats
  • mandarins
  • orange
  • kiwi
  • grapes
It is also a great way to teach younger children to sort from biggest to smallest as you want to use the bigger fruit at the bottom to balance the stack and gradually get smaller at the top.
It’s fun, it’s delicious & it’s educational!
An alternative to a fruit salad stack that would also be fun for the kids is to use the outer shell of fruit like pineapple, papaya, dragonfruit or melons as the bowl.
